A hypnotherapy session has only the best interests and emotional wellbeing of the client at heart. For benefits to take effect the client must want change, expect change and allow change to happen.
The initial consultation will involve fact finding and to establish a plan of treatment including deciding upon the number of sessions. General background details and reason for hypnotherapy session will be discussed. You shouldn’t use hypnotherapy if you suffer from psychosis or have a personality disorder. If you have a mental health problem or serious illness such as cancer make this this is mentioned at the start of the initial consultation.
Sometimes a relaxation session can be included in the initial session.
What to expect in a hypnotherapy session
A treatment plan of seven sessions is recommended to tackle depression.
You are fully in control when under hypnosis and don’t have to take on the any suggestions if you don’t want to. If necessary you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state.
You may feel pleasantly relaxed and your mind may drift or wander during hypnosis, likewise you may be fully aware of everything going on.
